I just got back from a whirl-wind tour of conference speaking. It was a real pleasure getting to speak at these events.
If you are considering your conference budget for next year or thinking about where to spend your money, look very hard at the regional events. Having attended and spoken at many of the major and regional events, I have to say the content at the regionals has been exponentially better. Pat Eyler and Mike Moore did an amazing job with Mount West Ruby Conf. Scotland on Rails was organized incredibly well, and had some of the best content I’ve seen in a long time. Alan Francis, Graeme Mathieson, Abdel Saleh and Paul Wilson pulled off their first conference in fine fashion. Between the location, the people, and the pub across the street, the tracks at this conference were a must see.
